    New to horses

    Hello everyone - Can anyone advise me about run-in dimentions for a 20 year old Clydesdale - he will retire at my place with a lot of support from his current family. I am preparing to build the run-in and thought you folks would be a great source of knowledge -

    Welcome to the horse forum!!
    We have a run in but it's too small now, when we built it we had young horses and now they are older and of course more horses LOL
    If it's just for one I would think 12'x12'......honestly I hope someone else knows better than I do LOL

    I'd think 12x12 would be a decent size also. And could probly get a few in there if they get along. Positioning the shelter is as, if not more important as size. Here most of our ill weather is from the north and west. So the openings face south or south east.

    12x12 would be adequate and make sure it is placed for both shade and wind break.
