New To West Virginia

My husband and I just moved to West Virginia (morgantown) from Texas. We brought one of our horses and the rest are still in texas. Does anyone know of any barrel races or speed events or anything horse related near the area? We live in morgantown, but were boarding my horse in Fairmont. Any help would be appreciated. WV is very different from Texas.

Hi, Welcome to Almost Heaven. Yea, topographically WV is very different from Texas but, horse people are horse people. I don't do speed events (you couldn't use a stop watch to time us, you'd probably need a sundial). But barrels and pole bending are very popular here. I have friends who show at Phillipe. That's as close as I know of personally. You might check the WV Market Bulletin. It's put out by the WV Div. Of Ag. And lists many horse events. You can access it on the inet. I'll check with my friends and see if they can think of any nearer to Morgantown. We're having a little show this weekend with some barrels and poles and fun speed classes (catalog race and a Dolly Pardon race) in Ansted. It's near the New River Gorge Bridge. About 3 hrs. From you. All are welcome and we really have fun!!
