They usually bill me because between two kids and a full time job, when they do anything at the barn with my horse, I am rarely able to be there. I just thought it was a bit ironic that I got the bill long before I got the actual results. I was in total sticker shock when I got the bill because the vet had told my friend, who held Nico for me, that the test was around $40. I'll be sure to ask what is going on with that! So far, its 10am and Im still waiting.

Don't be too hard on the vet (just in case you have an emergency in the future and that is the only vet available.)

    Absolutely - no burning bridges.

If the vet is the sole vet at the practice - chances are she is VERY busy. There is also the possibility if her staff feels you are being a PITA - they put your messages at the bottom of the pile.

I agree with farmpony on this one. I also think you should go to the office to get the results. For one thing, it is a lot easier to be rude to people over the phone. Hopefully, you will get a different reaction when you are face to face with them.

Im sure I am being a PITA...im actually pretty confident that they don't appriciate me calling. Its the 'poop rolls down hill' theory...im getting pressure from my BO and in turn am putting pressure on them. She is actually one of 6 vets at the practice and while I am sure that she is very busy, I am too. I wont burn any bridges...im sure the most I will be is short with them. I would love to stop down to their office and get the results myself, however it is 40 minutes away. Im just hoping I hear by the weekend.

Have you tried the being really nice to them approach?

Call up and apologize up and down for all your calling. Tell them how the barn owner keeps asking you to call and you have tried ignoring her but it is just not going away. Could they at least confirm that the results are back (they can look that much up) but you realize they are not allowed to give you the results but you want to be able to tell the barn owner that they are back.

That was the approach that I took when I got the pure attitude. I haven't called them since. If I don't hear back by friday, I'll be calling them. I am usually a very nice easy going person. I am very understanding of their situation and I know that they are busy. When I asked if they could tell if the results were in they told me that the vet would be in contact when she had time. Meanwhile, I contacted every vet in Nico's old breeders area to find out if any of them were involved in his gelding. A few mentioned his breeder but none of them had first hand knowledge of his gelding. They couldnt give me much more information than that. I asked using his registered name and the barn name he came with (Nico) but if they had a different barn name for him, the vet wouldnt know. There are just way too many scenarios in this...its making me dizzy!

LOL most likely. I just keep thinking "I bet that lil twit didn't even tell the vet I called....I bet those results are sitting there and she's not going to tell her" Im getting so much pressure from my barn...im becoming paranoid!

    Another idea.

If this is the vet that the barn owner usually uses have the barn owner call and ask what the hold up is.
