I understand why the OP is frustrated. But in the world of vet things it is totally common to pay for things before you get the results. Any vet (large and small animal) I have ever used requires payment at the time of service, which means I am writing a check before they leave my driveway with their vial of blood.
Good point. I always pay cash as I go, so I guess if it were me, I'd have already paid (I understand the OP was not there to pay and thus was billed), and still been waiting for the results. I remember once, getting a heart worm test on my first dog, and due to a mix up (they just forgot to call me) I didn't get the results for a month. I was very happy that at my current vet, they were able to run the test on sight and I got the results before the appointment was over.
I guess I was just caught up in the idea of how they could take the time to bill her, but they couldn't take the time to get back to her about a test several days after they were expected to get the results back from the lab.
