Does she really think that you would have the answer and not tell her?

Yup. In their eyes, he is a wild stallion who has impregnated all the mares and half the geldings. I happen to think he is just a late cut who likes to um...have fun. I told her that as soon as I hang up the phone with the vet, she will be my very next phone call. I've given them no reason to distrust me. I do lots of work on the farm for our rescue horses and still pay full board. Im not perfect but I think I am trustworthy. There is alot of gossip that goes around at the barn and I have mentioned to everyone, BO included, that I may have to find another place to board Nico before to long. Its a personal decision that has nothing to do with anyone...were just running out of trails. Maybe she thinks I'm gonna get the results (which she thinks are going to prove he is capable of breeding) and split...leaving her the bill for several mares. If thats the case, that makes me really sad.

(thanks for sticking with me on this one AB. I always have enjoyed your posts and appriciate your input on a sticky situation)

I just do not get people who react like this in a situation like this.

It is obvious you are just as in the dark as they are. You were just as shocked as she was.....
And really, if they think the mares are pregnant give them a freaking shot and be done with it.

I do see that the BO is between a rock and a hard place since it is their fault that the mares got bred once this was realized. But geez.

Some people make you just want to grab them by the shoulders and shake them. Or at least imagine doing it since doing it will probably get you in lots of trouble.

Hate to burst your bubble but support staff is not allowed to give test results to clients at our clinic. I will bet it's the same there.

Can the clinic run the test or do they need to send it out? Not all facilities are equipped to run unusual tests.

I do not think that is what she was saying.

I think she is saying that the receptionist is probably not telling the vet that she called and is waiting for her results and the vet is probably busy and does not realize they are back.

I think she realizes the receptionist can not tell her the results.

I know she can not tell me the results. I honestly wouldnt want her to. Nothing personal, I paid $75 for a freakin blood test. Im gonna need to speak to someone with a degree who can explain the results. Ive done tons of research on this topic and even then Im gonna need the vet to give me her professional opinion as to what seems to be the problem.

I know that the receptionist can't tell me results, but she could tell me that they are in. That would atleast shut me up for a bit. The BO was told that the test results would be ready in 4 days. Were on day 9. I dont know if they sent out the bloodwork or not...because no one will tell me!

AB: I dont know why the BO must act like this. The best idea I can come up with is that she is a closeted drama queen...either that or, as you said, she realizes that she put him in with the mares so therefore she has *some* not all liability if those mares magically end up preggers. Gosh I hope this blows over.

What a mess! Even if it was 40 minutes away, at this point I would be tempted to drive up and speak to the vet personally. If she's one of a team of vets at the practice, they probably alternate times of emergency calls so chances are, the vet will not be busy 24/7. Even vets have free time. At this point the whole vet situation is just plain ridiculous.

Best of luck with Nico! Keep us updated!

Good point. I always pay cash as I go, so I guess if it were me, I'd have already paid (I understand the OP was not there to pay and thus was billed), and still been waiting for the results. I remember once, getting a heart worm test on my first dog, and due to a mix up (they just forgot to call me) I didn't get the results for a month. I was very happy that at my current vet, they were able to run the test on sight and I got the results before the appointment was over.

I guess I was just caught up in the idea of how they could take the time to bill her, but they couldn't take the time to get back to her about a test several days after they were expected to get the results back from the lab.
