Odd Question...Make him look like a donkey?

There is a halloween horse show at the end of the month that I am going to. Instead of regular show classes, it's all halloween stuff, like costume classes.

My mom got the idea that we should dress up for the political parties...he's the donkey for democrats, I'm the elephant for republicans. I'm going to wear a red white and blue flag, and he's going to wear a similar one as a quarter-sheet.

My biggest concern is his ears. How could I make them look way bigger?
I know for his tail I can just wrap it like a donkey's, but how should I do his ears?
I was thinking maybe a super-sized ear bonnet like jumpers use, only have it be his color so it matches.

Any other ideas?

The ear bonnet sounds like a good idea, you could put a little strip of carboard or something hard on the back to make it stand up straight

You could look at stores and find a headband with rabbit ears /but they should have donkey ears somewhere. You can keep them on the headband and figure a way to attach it to the bridle to keep it from moving or figure out a way to seperate them and and attach them somehow..

Ps would love to see pics of the final outcome :)

Ear bonnet would be easiest, you could glue pipe cleaners to them to keep them standing up.

...besides the ears...

If his mane is pulled, I would gel it up, like a donkey's, to add to the effect!
