I also recently got a very underweight and "ugly" horse. She is an Arab/Appy cross, and is 1 1/2 year-old. She was so underweight, I doubt she would have made it through the winter if left where she was. I was told that the other horses where she was kept were pushing her away from the food, and the owners did not live on the property where the horses are. She was so ugly when I got her, that my hubby said he thought she was more like 20 years old! She is slowly re-gaining weight, and I think she is going to be beautiful----and a handful to train!! I don't think you made a stupid decision---yeah, you could have gotten something else for less, but sometimes a certain horse just speaks to your soul.

I have to agree. $2500 for a gelded ott tb is outrageous. Expecially with poor confirmation.

Have youi checked for pin firing marks? A tb can recieve a lot of damage in only one season.

    WOW!
Did not know how much they was asking for him,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,that is WOW TOOOOOO MUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! For a ottb. They usually run around 500 if not less with this market. There are so many of them run through the kill sale from the TRACK and they run for 60 - 200 (depending on weight)
I already posted on your other thread of this horse, he has potential but $2500??? They (owners) are taking full advantage of this situation.
If you already purchased him, good luck. He does show to be special.
    Good luck with him

I don't think that he is ugly at all. He just needs a little weight and some TLC (I saw the pictures on another forum)
