ok second time around; please vote on his new name!

    Hey guys!

So computer or something is being evil and my first attempt at a poll didn't work so let's try this again. I'm thinking about changing Rocky's name when his papers officially get transferred to me. Here are my top choices. Please vote and if you have time, let me know why you chose what you did. All of the names are in traditional arabic. Thanks! Oh, and there's pictures of Rocky in my stable on my page. He's 14.3 hand purebred Russian arabian

I chose Nasheed Al Riyah, mostly because it has this nice sound to it and its also a much more easier one to pronounce compared to the other ones, other than his original showname ;)

Bump. Also if anyone has any other name suggestions, feel free to post them. I'm really having a hard time deciding and any input is very helpful =)

    What's his registered name?

I'd think with him being Russian bred, you'd want something Russian, not Arabic.

I don't like changing a horse's registered name, because if you sell and lose track of him, you'll be up a creek without a paddle trying to find him years later.

His registered name is Iroc (and we can't find a meaning for it), but both his parents and grandparents have arabic names, which is why I wanted to do his in arabic.

You know, I never thought about it that way. I'm planning keeping him for the rest of his life, but I guess things could happen. I just think Iroc is too short and I wanted a name that meant something.

Iroc might just be a version of "I Rock". Which of course means nothing.

Seems strange that a reputable breeder wouldn't have put their farm initials at the beginning of his registered name, though.

My gelding's registered name is DMD Casper. DMD are the initials of the breeding farm from where he came.

The AHA only changes the registered names of geldings, and only those geldings who haven't already shown and won A rated and above awards. That way, there's no confusion over names. They also won't change it more than once, so you have to be sure you can live with his new name.

If you're planning to show him in rated, Arabian shows, his registered name will be his show name. If you plan to show him in nonbreed shows, it doesn't matter what you call him.

Just some food for thought. I've always disliked changing a horse's registered name. What barn name you give him is your business.

Ok it won't let me edit the original post right now for some reason but....

Please excuse my being on crack. This is what having 7 grad applications in 2 weeks is doing to me. My horse is purebred POLISH arabian, not Russian. Sorry about that guys (wow, am I embarassed....lol)

Doesn't matter, he's cute as a button either way.

Oh yes, Casper has ALL the female humans, adult all the way down to wee children, at my trainer's barn in love with him.

He bats those big, soft eyes with the long lashes at them, and they just melt. It doesn't hurt that he's only 14.2 h and grey, because he looks like a real life My Little Pony!

Whenever I take him there to ride, I have to practically beat his admirers off him with a stick! Laugh!
