Ok you guys will not beleive this! please help!

Well, we are buying a house on 17 acres with a 6 stall barn and an awesome house. ANY WAY! My dad and I had to go out and fix a braker or some thing so the house doesnt go boom when they turn the power on. Well when we were going up the very long sand drive way we noticed strange tire tracks and it looked like it was pulling a trailer. When we get up the drive way my dad said "whats with all the horse nuggets?" and I was all like "whats with the HORSE!"

SO any way, now we have a horse abandond at our farm. Yay....not. Lol Well he is a bay colt, looks to be around a year old, and he has an ambilical hernia (I think?)

I got him in a stall the first night and now he is out in the front pasture with grass up to his knees and a 100 galon trof of water. I bought him some grain and I think he needs to be wormed.

So my question is, what do I do to find out if I can find his old owners if it is posible if he could have escaped? I'm going to place flires out at all the local feed and tack stores. Also if they did dump him I would like to know if he is registered how could I post a flier saying if he was there horse that I wunt judge them I just want to talk to them about his registration and his shots and stuff?

I promis there will be pics asap.

Actualy this has been happening around here a lot. People are releasing horses out in state forests and some people leave on trail rides and come back to horses tied to there trailers. Just last week some on abandond there farm along with all 12 of there horses. Its a sick thing I don't know how any one could be so cold hearted but all the rescues are full and they wount take them.

I don't know. Because they are desperate....? Are you keeping him if someone doesn't claim him?

Because they want to make their problem someone else's instead of their own. That's pretty cool though to get a free horse. Post some pictures!!

So far it is still in question with my parents on weather WE have the money for him. Do you know if any rescue groups will help me out when it comes to castrate him? We don't have that kind of money because we are buying the house.

Have you called Animal Control? Not only will they be able to help in trying to locate his owner if he was an escapee and not abandoned but they should have some insight into local organizations that should be able to provide you with assistance.
