No, but it helps if someone has an informed
opinion. To have an opinion based on nothing but supposition, inaccurate information, and emotion is completely moronic.
After doing some research, I found that this is apparently a very
hot topic among the mini breeders of the world. It's not likely to be resolved any time soon, and certainly not by people who have no interest in whether or not a Shetland is a pony, a mini, or both.
'Many of the miniature registries allow cross-registration with other horse registries. Some USA miniature horses can be cross-registered as Shetland Ponies, Miniature Ponies, Falabella or Miniature Toy Horses. Miniature horses can also be cross-registered with color registries and become registered Appaloosa, Sabino or Paint horses.'
So to answer your question, it depends on the registries you're dealing with whether or not your Shetland can be double registered.
