Unhappy People telling me my horse is better off in the kill pen?

My horse is bad at reining. I'm still bad at riding. We don't have enough money to go have lessons for me or my horse.

People keep telling me that because my horse can't rein well, won't listen to your commands , so on, that he is better off dead / in the kill pen because he's "not worth anything".

Please tell me how I can ignore these mean comments. He's only a three-year-old horse and had only been ridden 3 or 4 times before I bought him!

Next time someone says something to you, just simply respond by telling them, "Next time I want your opinion, I'll ask for. Until that time, please keep you comments and opinions to yourself thanks." Its a polite way to tell rude people to keep their mouths closed and fairly effective.

    Ignore stupid people.

Look up videos on the Internet/YouTube on how to teach a horse to steer and stop. Search the forum for threads. Make friends with local horse people who are willing to help you.

Didn't you say that your father or uncle raises horses? Why can't they help you?

Tell them sweetly that theirs wouldn't look out of place their either? Every horse and rider have to start out somewhere. They don'tp op out fully trained and voice activated. You could try saying 'wow your horse was perfecly trained by three?? Who was your trainer?

That isn't nice to say at all, and I for one don't believe in horse slaughter. BUT
In my honest opinion I don't think you and your horse are a good match. I am sorry and I am not trying to be mean but I could just see so many things going wrong with a young green broke horse and a novice rider. Remember to keep yourself safe with this horse.

You really need to find better people to hang around with.

Where do you see these scumbag people?
    At the barn? Change barns
At the horse club? Start your own club.
    4-H ? Move clubs
At the trainers? Get a better trainer

Life is to short to let shallow and mean people dictate how you feel about your horse or yourself.
There are a lot of people on this earth that believe the only way they can feel better about themselves is by belittling, humiliating and making fun of others.
Do Not give them the satisfaction.

Well, he's not really green broke. He rides perfectly, in my opinion. The only thing wrong is his reining, and my cousins are a little too harsh when they ride him.

When they ride him, they kick him hard and say stuff like, "This horse is ******ed!" , "This is horse should be put down!", "If he was MY horse, I'd put him down!", "I'm glad my horse doesn't act this way!", so on.

Well unfortunetly, you can't pick your relatives.
I would not let them ride your horse, no exceptions.

Keep telling them that, he is a work in progress.
Try and stay away from mean people as much as possible.
Don't let their meanness rub off on you, it is their problem not yours.

My father makes me let them ride... If it were up to me, and they didn't live there, I wouldn't let them come within 50 feet of my horse!
