Not a Collie fan of any sort.
Lexi's far too old to be having any mini-me versions of herself, so that's out.

The puppers I'm getting is from actual herding dog lines, not those long nosed, inbred doofuses they're breeding as 'show dogs' nowadays. You know, a real dog!

I'm just not a herding dog fan. Mostly because I don't have the time to give them a job and the real hyper ones turn destructive then and that makes me mad. Just like Jack Russells. LOL
But I LURVE the "ego" dogs - Danes, Shepherds, Pittbulls, Mastiffs, Rotti's, etc.
I dunno what the says about me.

I don't see anything wrong with someone having a breed preference. Why does that bother you so much?

Now I can understand not liking someone being closed minded where they say they hate all of one breed or hate a specific horse because its a certain breed. But that is worlds different than saying "I love breed X."

I do have breed preferences for various reasons and there are other breeds that I will probably never own just because there are things I don't like about them in general. It doesn't mean I hate those horses, it just means in general they don't meet my preferences for what I'm going to own and use. I still enjoy reading other people's stories about those breeds and looking at pictures of their horses. Its just not something likely to end up in my fields. I don't think that's being closed minded but rather just honest.

All I pay my psychiatrist is cost of feed and hay, and he'll listen to me any day!

I have no problem saying I love standardbreds and would probably never own an arabian or a thoroughbred or a quarter horse. I found a breed I love and that's all I need. I also find my labrador (show lines) to be a laugh riot, lovable, bonded to me like a second skin and surprisingly protective (at night, when alone I like that). I would never own a shepherd (bad attitudes, bad hips/elbows and horrible veins = harder to kill in the end). That said the breed is not right for me but it might be perfect for you. They are very loyal to their person and when well bred and trained I believe the can be great dogs.

I don't care if you like my breed. I have a problem with people who can't hold their tongue. If you don't like my breed nod and smile, you don't need to make snide comments about them. I nod and smile when people gush about their breed, I deserve the same. If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all.

Breed racism... it really does exist, you're right.

I think there is more of a prejudice than anything, an underlying judgment when people think that one breed is capable of a certain discipline and that's how it is.

I pretty recently got into dressage with my quarter horse and I couldn't be happier. Any breed can do dressage. Any breed can barrel race. Any breed can do any discipline.. It's strictly dependent on the horse.

I think it's the worst when people think that some horses are more valuable than others. I'm really grateful that I'm around people that believe in the equality of all horses and don't judge a horse based on its breed.

The horses that are free are just as valuable and amazing as the horses that are millions of dollars. Sure, one might have a more popular pedigree or be better trained (actually not always true I'm sure), but they are EQUALS.

All horses are equal, all horses have different characteristics that make them beautiful. Prejudicial thoughts have been ingrained in people for thousands of years and it is our job as knowledgeable horse people to break those habits for everyone we know... lead by example.

It doesn't take a well-trained dressage rider to call someone out on their breed prejudice... :)
