Saw this in another forum, and thought I'd share.
Keep this nice guys, no directing posts at people.. if you do it, be man enough to name...or use the talk to team button.
Mine, are as follows. I could go on all day, however my keyboard would explode.
1) People who are blindfolded to their way, or the high way. I am not a fan of parelli, or monty roberts, but I'm not going to shove it down your neck, and because I don't follow it, do not proceed to tell me my horse is mean. A 'carrot stick' is a whip. It just looks funny. Then you get people who bang on and on about natural horsemanship and it being as natural as possible, and that is crap. If it were natural- your horse would be in a field eating till it popped, not stood with you on its back- get over it.
2) People who proceed to give false, dangerous or idiotic advice to other people, especially novices. If you're going to give advice, make sure its correct- don't just pull it out on a whim then when you're questioned, continue to argue your point despite being wrong, wrong and wrong.
3)People who 'hate' things. It means you don't understand it. I'm not talking about animal cruelty, I'm talking whips and spurs. Any piece of equipment can be harmful to a horse in the wrong hands. My spurs and whips are not used to attack, or put the fear of god in my horse, its to make him more responsive to my aids and further our training. If I'm doing a canter piroutte, I want my leg behind the girth, but still need to keep impulsion and the horse from drifting, so I need my little helper- a spur.
4) People who pussy foot around their horses. I'm all for taking your time, but there is only so much grooming and petting a horse can take. 'I don't want to be the boss of my horse, thats mean' no, its not, its natural. You assume the position of herd mare in that horse's brain, and there are plenty of ways to do it without scaring the pants off your horse or turning it in to a nightmare. I am the herd mare of my mare, if I wasn't, I wouldn't be able to lead her, pick a foot out or ENJOY my riding, I'd be fighting to get hold of her and keep hold of her as she has no respect. Anyone who thinks differently, and has a 'bond' with their horse that makes them different, please indulge me
5) People who bash other people for the sake of it. Yard politics being one of them. People who gang up on a single person to make them feel so isolated and alone, but in reality we're all there for the same thing- horses.
