Phar Lap is going to a new home. :(

I have made the heart wrenching decision of rehoming Phar Lap. I have a good friend that is taking him home after Christmas and he will be an only child and spoiled rotten. I made the decision because of not being able to work with his barn sour problem. We were doing great for awhile but with all the over time I always end up doing at work I have no time to ride like I used to. He is getting really bad again and it is more of a chore for me to go riding on him than it is fun. Shadow needs more TLC with her age and being so under muscled so I made the decision of one over the other right now. Shadow wouldn't be able to find a home with her age. I know when they come and get him I am going to break down and cry.........

Awwe that stinks! But it sounds like you thought it out and came to the conclusion it is for the best for everyone.... not that there is replacing... but you will still have your little mare to work with, so that is good. :) It is wise to realize when we can't make a situation better and need to find a fix for it.

It sounds like you are putting the horses well being and your own sanity in the fore front, which is a good thing. Its a tough decision but I think it's probably a good one.

Sorry. I never really considered his name any other time until I joined a horse forum with people that actually know who the real Phar Lap is.
