please help! does he like me?

Ok so there is this guy and I have known him for three years I think. We were in 4h together and summer just ended and this is our first year in the same school. Last year he 'dated' this other girl in my 4h for months, but she broke up with him for his best friend then tried to get him back and he said no. He and I both participate in monthly gymkhanas and its always a competition between us. We talk at least twenty minutes before and after each event. Everyone around us says we are flirting and I kinda think we are when I look back. Anyways, according to his ex he still likes her but according to my cousin he likes me. Im confused and I don't know who to trust. I kinda am thinking about making up some guy that I need protecting from that lives far away and doesnt pose a physical threat to him, and having cody(thats his name) text the number(one of my friends) and see what he says and how defensive he gets. Please tell me what you think!

A gentle suggestion - posting essentially the same thing in multiple places really only serves to confuse readers and reduce the response you get. Posting one thread makes it easier for you, and others, to follow the discourse and keep things on track.
