Pony Club Mounted Games--No half chaps?

I'm bringing my reiner to a Pony Club Mounted Games clinic tomorrow. This is the first time Games have been introduced to our club, so the instructor's coming in from Kentucky to help us out.

In the clinic information letter, it was really emphasized that tall boots were not allowed--just paddock boots. Out of curiousity, what's the reasoning for this? Are half chaps allowed? Our DC doesn't seem to know.

    Thanks!

Probably so you have plenty of movement. Long boots can be restrictive especially if they're new so if you're doing mounted games it isn't what you need. Have fun :)

Mounted games are fast and furious when they are at a good level with a lot of jumping on and off the ponies and running so, long boots are a handicap.
I expect that you can ride in half chaps in practise but, they add extra weight to your legs which you do not want. Certainly they are not allowed in the games themselves.
