Not as of yet. I've been waiting to talk to my BO before I call the cops or anything. I hate waiting. But I did get a better look at where the field opens at the top by the road. There is a gate but no buckets by it. So I'm still not exactly sure where she's getting water but she's got to be getting it somewhere because for as long as she's been there she would be dead by now if she wasn't.

Why are you waiting? What is the BO going to do? It has been two weeks just call the authorities already.
What if she was dumped and god forbid has some disease? With the pastures next to one another your horse and others could be at risk.

Great News!

So Great News she has an owner! Long story short we were going to go ask the neighbors this weekend if she was theres and one of the little boys in my moms first grade class is one of them. So she asked him today and she's theirs. They been taking care of her (as well as another horse) and trying to get her healthy. The only reason they haven't treated the shoulder is they weren't sure how to get a vet. Theres few big animal vets around here so not a big surprise but hopefully I get my vets number to them through my mom. Im just so relived she has an owner! I don't have to worry about her!

I was waiting cause its not my property and I wanted to find if they still knew who owned the fields. And I did contact the authorities. My moms janitor friend at school son is a county cop. She asked him for us and he said to ask the neighbors and if she didn't get claimed in 30 days she was mine. But as stated in the above I was going to ask this weekend and didn't need too she has and owner.

Just check up on her. Make sure they know you are always available to help, and if she gets worse don't hesitate to step in. Glad to hear the good news.

If the shoulder knot is hard and 'boney', it is probably an old injury. If it is soft, it is probably Pigeon Fever and will break and drain.

Obviously, this horse has water or it would have died 3 or more weeks ago. If there is pasture and water, it is not being technically 'abused' or 'neglected' under the law. Just ask around if you must. It is just typical of what has happened after cheap horses lost their value. It is probably just another 'unwanted horse'.

Its an old injury. She had it when they found her. Just curious would Pigeon fever be that far down? Don't abscess from that usually come on the neck?

The OTTB mare my old BO owned had pigeon fever that formed on her chest, so my guess it that yes, it can form lower on the shoulder too.

Everyone in your life is meant to
be in your journey, but not all of
them are meant to stay till the end.
