Well, since we raised Appaloosas for many years, at one time we always had around 25 to 30, between foals born, broodmares, stallion and horses sold
SInce we stopped breeding some 8 years ago, I we are down to 4 horses, there of which are mine, all mares, and hubby's gelding
While we raised quite a few loud colored Apps over the years, my three girls are not.
Charlie was born loud colored, but unfortunately, inherited the greying gene from her sire, who I bred her dam to, by transported semen
In his picture in the Appaloosa Journal, Awarded just looked like a black leopard. I guess the greying gene can act at a different rate of expression between the base color and any markings. He is most likely all white by now
Anyway, Charlie was born chestnut, with blanket, blaze and flashings on all four legs. By the time she was two, she was completely white.
Smilie is a solid Appaloosa, by our one stud, Cody, who is marked a lot like trouble. I will post his picture also. Her dam was an AQHA mare
Carmen has roaned, but was born chestnut with a blanket
Hubby's horse , Rubix is loud colored, and also got that rat tail, back in his dam's pedigree, even though San Stone (my old reining mare ) herself had a tail, as did his sire
So, here is my main trail horse, Carmen. She is nice and short, so easy to get on and off of.
