Talking Potential new horse!

I don't know what exactly made me SO excited about this horse, but alas, I saw the ad, picked up the phone and scheduled a time to look at him. I have my horse, but have been on a "casual search" for a husband-safe horse for about a year.
So now I am trying to not let emotions get in the way so I can judge him completely objectively.
It's been about 10 years since I have bought a horse from someone I don't already know...any tips, tricks or reminders? I am going to see if the seller will let me take him for a week or so on trial.

Talk to previous owners and anyone who worked with the horse. Get a vet check and as you said, take it on trial.
