Yes, I've heard everything about the tom thumb, and I don't keep contact in his mouth, he neckreins well enough so I don't really have to pull in his mouth. But its also needed because he is barn and buddy sour so I have to sometimes redirect him with the bit. Ill ask about changing it to a Snaffle, but eventually I want to be able to ride him with just a rope around his neck.

I would change it to a snaffle then, and throw away that other bit as soon as possible - good for you for being so contientious about his comfort and well-being!! Ride him lightly until he gets more weight on as well. He deserves the best, and I'll bet he'll give you his very best with all the proper care! :)

    Ok guys update:
I kniw I havent updated this for awhile because I've been scrambling to get stuff together for my final ecams in school. Im so glad its over!

Anyways, for the past two lessons we worked on circles and getting him to really have impulsion and push with his hind legs and to get him focused on his rider. It has gone very well and he is even starting to form a little muscle on his butt! I will have to take pictures tomorrow lol. We also are working on jumping and he LOVES it, he's the only horse that would willingly jump. Today we worked more on circles and jumping and we got to see what cantering in a circle felt like and my horse was all over the place. He was so off balance because he has so little mucle, but we are working on that. I have yet to ride him on the trail string, I think the BO wants me to get more expirience and more weight and muscle on him before we do. I've heard that he does not do well in trail strings if he's near the back. Sorry for ths typos im on a phone. And, I also am changing his bit and Im using a more durable nylon bridle now.
