Hey Alpine! Good luck in your endeavors! Welcome to HF!

If I were you I'd make it a point to introduce myself to everyone. Make sure they know where you're coming from and how dedicated you are to learning.
Don't be intimidated by those with more experience, find something to compliment them on, and always have a smile for those around you.

Hopefully you'll be able to learn a lot there and they'll welcome you into the fold!

You can get a lot further with a ladder than you can with crutches!!
What do you mean what do I mean?

Welcome to the always fun, open, easy going, and un-oppinuated world of horses. we "horse people" really are easy to get along with we are very open minded about training, riding and horse care. so take it easy.

Ok really take it easy I was being a "little" sarcastic but really you are putting way to much pressure on yourself. Your inexperience is your greatest asset. be open and tell people you don't know much. Once thing about horse people we love to hear ourselves talk about horses. keep your ears and eyes open and learn you will see and hear things you like and things you won't. You can't go wrong admitting to others you don't know much. I learn more by acting like I don't know then when I act like I know everything. But, then I am a horse person who like to hear himself talk about horses. :)

Welcome :)

It sounds like you are embarrassing yourself when there isn't a reason to! Honey you're new at this, and you need to cut yourself some slack. Don't feel foolish about asking advice.. but don't always take what is said to heart. Someone said some REALLY uncalled for things about my horse in the beginning... and it upset me until I talked to other experienced horsemen (I'm new at this too.. have owned him only 3 years in November!) and they weren't nearly as negative.

Hugs! Enjoy your horse :) You've got this girly.. don't let anyone tell you otherwise :)

Hi everyone, sorry this is such a delayed response, but thank you all so much! Your words really helped. So far we're settling in nicely, and the community is just great
