Rant-sorry guys

Ok so before I begin I want everyone to realize that I jumped for six years and appreciate it completely as an awesome sport.

BUT

I'm so incredibly sick of everyone who jumps telling me how much better, harder ect. jumping is than Dressage. I don't even talk to a few people anymore because they will find fault in everything I say about horses. I have been in horses for almost a decade and have made mistakes (I am not going to butter it up or lie- i have made mistakes.) But I also do everything I can to learn and discover new things about horses. Anyways, honestly people I hate to be blunt but jumping is not the "can do no wrong" discipline. Every discipline has its faults, Dressage too.

whew Ok, Thanks everyone. I am truly sorry if I offended anyone.

Depends on the horse, but in general, I find that lower level jumping is easier than lower level dressage! At least on the horses that I have ridden.

I think what they are telling you is pretty backwards. You can't have jumping without dressage, so... that's really weird that they would tell you that.

I don't blame you for ranting!

whaoo! like she said ^ i dont blame you for ranting! tell them that (haha again, like she said^) you cant have jumping without dressage. dressage is NOT just the horse doing the work, and neither is jumping! i have done both, and they are both equelly hard, but i find in dressage i takes a lot longer to move up the levels! haha maybe thats cuz im worse at dressage? but they are both definitly a big challenge!

If there are no horses in heaven... im not going.

I hate that people think western is a cowboy sport when in reality, it's very closely related to dressage.

PS-I jumped for years... But I don't really do it all that much these days... Not my thing anymore....

my BO used to be a reiner, then she switched to dressage, she teaches her reiners almost the exact same thing as her dressage riders. i tryed reining once..... haha THAT went well.... NOT

Haha-like they said-you need dressage basics to jump, but personally...I think dressage is WAY harder than jumping. I LOVE jumping because of what it is, and heck yes it is hard, but dressage just requires a heightened level of horsemanship and awareness that from personal experience, a lot of low/medium level Jumper riders lack.
