Registering new horse

So I just got a 3 year old paint mare from a breeder, who didn't register her. He told me that it would be easy to register her, since I took her mom too and the stud is on their property still. I was wondering what I need to do in order to register her with the APHA. Here is a picture of her (she is the chestnut) and her mom (the bay). Her mom is a foundation paint and is registered, (i am getting moms papers from her breeder, who isn't the same person I got the horses from). I am just not sure where to go or how to get her registered.

I think it turns out to be over $500.

Thanks. They were both in a pretty bad situation, but I am glad I got them. The mom ended up at where I work as a trail horse and a lesson horse, which she is loving the attention. The 3 year old, is my personal horse and she is going to make a wonderful mare!

Thanks oh vair oh for the link. If I can't get the breeder's certification is there another way to register her, since I will have mom's papers and what not?

Contact APHA and they'll tell you what you need to know. They are super helpful and very nice. It's probably going to cost you an arm and a leg though since they are older now.

The stallion owner is going to have to be in charge of getting the breeder certificate and signing off the foal and allowing you to register it. And the owner of the mare AT THE TIME OF BREEDING will have to sign paperwork as well.

This is best discussed with APHA so give them a call when you can and they'll walk you through everything you need to do to get them registered.

Good luck!

Every time I contact APHA, they are awesome to talk to and very knowledgeable.
