They built a boarding/training/lesson barn big indoor 20 stalls, outdoor arena and a three arce field that is great for riding in. Fast forward three years, the owner gets really sick and can't work in the barn and the BM is a pain to deal with but can't find anyone to replace her. Board isn't making money and the lessons are limited because the BM is the instructor and she is less than great with adults and teens.
The choices are to sell it (they've already sold all their horses but a few lesson horses), or find another use that wouldn't need heavy work every day three or four times a day. And does need to have hay made (they make there own hay). They had thought of just renting the place for the day for shows, clinics and individuals. All ready have the insurance, and at the most need a couple part time workers for general maintence.
I was just wondering if this is even a viable idea? I mean I would pay to trailer in a horse to use the indoor and trails. But I don't know if there is a need for show/clinic facilites. Is there places like that around in general (Canada or US)? Would you rent it by the stall, hour, day?
They are in a place where every other person has at least one horse if not two or three, not all have an arena or even close to trails. Also they already host clinics and fun shows.
Thanks, any opinion is great.
