RIP Hickstead

Hickstead died in the ring in the world cup qualifier in Verona.

Truly sad. What a talented horse.

Very sad, his rider and all those who knew him, my heart goes out to them! At least he passed, while doing something he truely loved.

What a travesty, my thoughts and prayers go to all those involved.

I'm not going to post the video because it's pretty hard to watch, but from what it looked like, he seemed to be seizing after he collapsed...
Has the cause of death been determined?
It was heartbreaking to watch...

I can't believe it... Hickstead was amazing. </3 Rest in peace...

Wow.. That was one of my favourite horses. What an awesome horse, he will be deeply missed =(

*gasp* oh no!!!!! I loved that horse so much. The bond he had with his rider was amazing, and I remember watching them together in the last summer Olympics and I was so proud of them when they won a gold for Canada.

Truly amazing horse, may he rest in peace.

Wow. How unfortunate, but what a lovely article. I love that they all took a moment of silence to honor Hickstead... he was an amazing horse and he always gave it his all. He will be missed.

Saw the video. I am guessing heart failure. He always put a lot of effort into his jumps that maybe his heart just gave out.
