Cool On the road ed

Why is it that people don't seem to understand that trailer + horse(s) + truck = potential torpedo
I don't want your death on my conscience so please stop pulling out in front of me, cutting me off in my lane or making decisions to turn w/o a signal when I'm behind you. I have a fabulous braking system but it takes me quite a distance to slow down & stop w/o hitting you...duh!

Makes you just want to strangle some people doesn't it? People are truly clueless. Last Spring a semi truck was waiting to pull out into the highway and I thought, nice! He's waiting for me to pass him....then he pulled out straight in front of me!!! I'm not sure, maybe I should put neon lights on the truck and trailer???? If a trucker doesn't get it......

Yep.....I was making a right hand turn a while back and a lady decided to sneak up on my right using the bike lane as a car lane. As I was making the turn she got her front bumper stuck on my folded up step. I was stopped smack in the intersection now waiting for her to back her car up and as she did she gauged the side of my trailer not to mention my step was jacked up! She paid no attention to my signals. She got an improper lane usage ticket, two points! $3800.00 in damage. Gee, I guess she did not see me!

Also have to love it when they pull out in front of you and continue to do twenty miles per hour!

Haha then add the people who like to tailgate your trailer with horses in it all the while beeping there horn because they think doing the speed limit is not good enough...

Some people just don't understand ...

Most people have absolutely no refrence point for maneuvering a trailer and therefore don't even consider it. The law will not hold them responsible, they will hold you responsible. Have a friend that was pulling a trailer, the intersection is a really poorly designed one and the traffic lights were out (knocked down) and the road dept hadn't fixed or put up any temporary signage. Friend was making a left turn, pickup and boat that had over 1/2 mile of visual only braked the last 18 feet before hitiing the very back of his trailer (no horses in it) sadly the drivers wife died after the accident (elderly with a bad heart) friend was crossing 5 lanes in a very slow turn. Other driver hit the back of his trailer, friend is charged with vehicular manslaughter. Because the one turning in front of traffic is always at fault and the city is trying to avoid a lawsuit because of the lack of signals/signage. If you rear end an idiot, it will be initially assumed you are at fault, or that you were operating a vehicle mechanically unable to cope with road conditions. Without the point of refrence they don't get why your horsetrailer/truck can't stop like their Miata...

Goneriding glad you & your hoofed kids didn't get hurt!

Another 1 to add:
I take up most if not all of my lane so please stay in yours, even if its a "scary (w/sarcastic tone)" country road

I particularly love when going down (or up) a winding mountain road and the little car/suv behind you thinks you were put there to simply inconvenience them.. don't know how many times I have been flipped off after waiting to find a safe place to pull off and let them by..
    06-20-2012, 03:24 PM
Oh longshot the above happens to me all the time...i just smile and wave to them as I let them by... and then they get in front of you and drive slower then the speed limit or just try to break check you because they think you were going slow to upset them not because of the cargo you were carrying...
Absolute dummies...

It's because people become idiot behind the wheel. Texting and driving = Idiot. Pulling out in front of a truck/trailer = Idiot. Honking a horses and riders along the road side = idiot. Its part of the reason I drive really slow when driving with horses in the back. They are going to be mad at you no matter what speed you go at, so just go slow and get there safe.

I think everyone in drivers training should be required to tow a trailer before getting their license. They may never tow one in their life but hopefully they would better understand others who are towing.
