Rode Troubadour for the first time today...

And he did AMAZING! He was SO responsive in the round pen today, so I decided why not? I tried my BOs bridles, he wouldn't flex with the snaffle so I tried the hackamore and he was really soft in his face!

I stood on a plastic barrel to get on him and he was just kinda like "WTF are you doing??" Lol! He was a good boy! Walked right off perfect, turned, stopped, backed up all nice!

Then he got to walk around and explore around the barns when I turned him out and I helped my BO clean a stall out! He was NOSEY! And decided to just trot himself around for no reason lol!

Then we got a bath (I say "we" because I was soaked!) He had to go in the stock, and tied, and stood really nice and calm for his bath! He was a little nervous, but I like his how he reacts when he's nervous. Just lookey, not jumpy!

Then I hooked him up to the hot walker (not on) so he could move around but not roll. He was fine with that.

All in all, I think I lucked out with my $200 horse!

Pictures from bath time!

He's quite a looker. And seems like you have a very productive and pleasing day!

I haven't ridden Reno yet (soon...sooooooon). Oh god...you just reminded me. The farm is having a wine and cheese party on Saturday (complete with a photoshoot) and we're supposed to bathe the horses. The Andalusians I've done before...but I've never given Reno a full-on bath. *dies* Why am I so paranoid about things my OTTB probably already knows?

Lol! I was the same way! I kept expecting him to get upset or spook, and he never did. Especially on the hot walker, he's never been on one. It was HILARIOUS when I walked him out of the stock lol! He stepped way high like he thought he was going in/it of a trailer, all over the water hose

still warm enough where you are to give baths? Not here.

I have never seen a cage thingy like that before. I would worry that horse would freak and it'd be a mess.

You know, as I think about it, I didn't give Mac a single bath this summer. Not one. Just the very very lightest of hose downs over his back or shoulders to get off bad sweat. And that was really rare.

Oh trust me it worried me, but he did really well. And it's barley warm enough! A few more weeks and I probably can't!

Here's WHY he got a bath. My pants after riding bareback.
