So yesterday I was at the barn with my best friend who just got her first horse! Finally our dream has come true and we can trail ride together! Not rant worthy right? Well the property is a joint property 2 barns on it someone owns one and another person owns the other. The lady I board with is AMAZING. Super sweet, helpful, very kind and does such an awesome job with the horses. I couldn't be happier that I board with her. The other lady seems stuck up. Ignores me in conversation and I get the feeling she's continuously judging me ANY time i'm around her. Ew. It isn't often but they are on the same property keep in mind so i'm bound to run into her.
A few nights ago when my mare was put in my my Bffs gelding they did NOT get along right away, they started kicking each other like crazzzzzy. We broke them up but the Gelding got a pretty sore leg. He's totally okay but just took the brunt of it. So we separated them took care of any scratches and went home.
Last night the lady comes over to the barn and is all "Oh my god I'm SO sorry to hear about your horse" to my friend and i'm standing there awkwardly because my BFF knows things like this happen she LOVES my horse and I LOVE her horse to pieces so she's all "oh thanks yeah, he's doing just fine!" and then the lady is all "He is SO gorgeous such a beautiful horse, he really is good looking." And i'm still awkwardly standing there....Granted she and her gelding are newer to the barn but not like it's her first day or the lady had never see the horse before. I've been there 3 weeks my BFF is going on 2 weeks. -- ANYWAYS -- There was an awkward pause and she turns to me and goes... "And your horse.....she's........"
And my tempature started to rise. My bff chimed in to save me from the awkwardness and goes "She's spunky! :)" And the lady is all. "....yeah...thats a word for it." And i'm "................yeah." and I think she tried saving herself by going "well if I had been around stallions my whole life I'd wanna be around mares now too" which is weird because she hasn't she's had two foals her entire life and she's a bit of a rescue case but follows me around like a puppy. I didn't know what to say...
It just really really REALLY hurt my feelings. Like say what you want about me, I get it i'm not perfect and you might have an issues because I didn't choose your barn. (I had the choice hers was A LOT more money and not even worth it.) -- but still the fact is that was rude, i'm not saying lie to me about my horse, but how does she know ANYTHING about her?! She doesn't work with her every day, doesn't feed her, doesn't do anything with her!
It was just one of the most awkward positions i've ever been in in my entire life. Not fun at all. Sigh. I just don't get how people think talking to others like that is acceptable?
