Running Flags

I was asked to run flags next week at the rodeo. I don't know why but im kind of nervous, Maybe its cause of all the people in the grandstands. Has anyone else ever ran them?

I have not ran them, but my daughter and I have been watching them practice for our rodeo (which was last weekend). The things I've noticed...extra practice with that flag is a must. You can emulate the music, and the flags, but you cannot emulate the energy of the crowd and excitement. A couple of my former students told me that the only way they managed was to get there very early and spend a lot of time riding around the arena before the rodeo started, as the crowd was arriving. They practiced lots of stops, turns and made their horse vary gates regularly. They all did very well, but I understand the anxiety. The crowd is the one factor you cannot fake in a practice.

Thanks Fowl play! I have been carrying flags in parade for a few years but never ran them. He is fine with that! We have a few practices before the rodeo, I like what you said about doing alittle bit of stops and turns. Im definitely going to do that! Were your students nervous? I know im going to do it than afterwards say "That wasnt that bad" I always get myself all worked up.
