My once hated, now beloved Airowear Outlyne comes with me on every ride. I did order a kind of sparkly stretch vest to go over it for showing, but not only does it not fit, it makes me look even more like a Michelin woman than ever.
I wanted to jazz the vest up for shows so I did this
The Flamingo was a tribute to Gibbs, at our very first schooling show, he jumped out of the ring over a flamingo gate marker... The flamingo though is now getting a bit worn out, and has no relevance to Fergie/The Valkyrie, so I was thinking to make a panel to cover the back there, that would velcro over the flamingo. I can't find many appliqués in a viking theme, how about any of these?
For a Valkyrie theme, I think I'd go with something more along the lines of Nordic runes/line-work similar, but different from Celtic knot-work. The Valkyrie weren't Viking warriors - they were the warrior maidens who awaited the warrior and escorted him to Valhalla after a good death.
Trouble is it is hard to find anything Valkyrie themed, searches tend to get into biking stuff, seeing as Honda had a Valkyrie model.
I know who the Valkyrie were, and the warrior is the link, The Valkyrie, Fergie, is indeed carrying a warrior...in form of a patch.
The link could be as tenuous as the Flamingo was for Gibbs, looking for something that makes sense to me, and is striking or pretty or just simply I like it.
Of course I also need to figure out how to make the cover that it will be going onto.
The bag came in, a bit lighter in colour than I thought, but it is going to work well.
Now I am debating if I should make a black slip cover for the back, and sew the Valkyrie to it, that is a touch technical, but with the help of a friend quite doable.
Or it would be possible to just to sew it over the flamingo and leave some sparkle.
The advantage of a cover is I can just put that on for shows, and leave it as is at home.
Here is both options, obviously material just folded to give an idea right now, what do you think?
If you could trace it to make a stencil, you could use fabric paints to do several slip covers in different colors and even add sparklies and/or glitter!
That sounds like you need a small bit of ability, or talent, and sadly none of mine are in the artistic, or craft area...but I like the idea of different slip covers......
The black cover for the vest was done, but I never got around to decorating it, so for the last show I just tacked on a band just to give it some bling
Now my friends, I have nice friends dubbed it the 'band aid' rotten lot. One of them did kind of spark a great idea though, to take the T and V from The Valkyrie and make a logo that I can put on the back of the vest and the saddle pad, I love the idea, but I'm struggling for inspiration to make it happen.....lots of little ones, big one on vest and small ones on the vest? I want it to look like kind of a brand rather then TV.
Any ideas? Oh and I want to make it out of the blue sparkly stuff that the band aid and hat band are made out of.
