I don't like the protector vests at all. My aunt wore one and she was bucked off; 6 broken ribs. The vest did nada.

Arguable. The vets absorb some of the concussive force of the fall but it's pretty difficult to make something that's going to absorb enough of the concussive force that will dramatically reduce injury. I think those air vets do a better job than the regular vets though. It's possible that the vest prevented the broken ribs from puncturing a lung.

Edited to add: Just like a bullet proof vest means that you won't be injury free after getting shot. It will stop the bullet but the force behind the bullet still comes through and you get a mighty bruise under the spot the bullet hit.

I tried different ones in Dover when I was looking to buy one. The Airowear was the most comfy, but it's pricey (and I didn't want to order it in Europe, because I'm never good about taking measurements :) ). I ended up getting Woof vest from Adams Horse Supply. Really like it!

Besides she could end up with more injuries including the internal organs (that are by far worse than broken ribs).
