Hello,

I have an interesting idea for a business that involves horses,
it was inspired by a trip to 6 Flags.

So anyway here is what I have figured out already. If you are interested in joining this or have any other ideas for the buisness please post them below.

30 horses
20 cattle
5 cattle working dogs

Point: Take pictures posing as cowboys/girls using real life props and sets close to real as possible. Real life horses and cattle will be used in the pictures if wanted.

People will drive up and park in parking lot, then get out and ring a bell on a big gate blocking their view of anything. A person on horseback will ride up and open the gate and explain what will happen should they decide to continue on. If they do continue, more horses will be tacked up and the people will get on and ride through the gate to the building where they decide what kind of pictures, how many, what style etc...
From there (depending on what they pick for their pictures) many number of things could happen.

These are the types of pictures they can pick from (as of right now):
Campfire | Cattle Driving | Saloon | Mounting Up | Part of the Herd | On the Trail

There can be many number of different poses involved in each category.

Once the pictures are done they then have 2 options, ride the horses back to their car or they can ride their horses to the store and then from the store to their cars.

Anyway, its just an idea in the making at the moment. I have 14 years of horse experience and I know Ill need insurance and all that important stuff. Right now I just need some input on what else to include and people to be my partners so it will be possible to even start. Im hoping to do it upstate NY but the location isnt set in stone.

What is your plan B should this become not as popular/profitable as you believe? Will it just be auction time for the horses if your business falls under?

I think the general idea should be "make more money than you put in". Will you be able to match and exceed just the cost of general upkeep of thirty horses, cows, and other animals just off of photos? What about electricity, insurance, water, other bills. Will you be offering any other "wild west" attractions to help pay for these?

Six Flags is ALL money. They have many other means of revenue to be able to support something like this. But yours is not an impossible plan. Just needs work.

I am not questioning your knowledge of business, horse care, or anything, I was just curious.

It is a good, interesting idea, one that needs a lot more work and thinking(and yes partners), but one that I think could be another avenue for promoting equines in one way or another.

Keep working on it.

Just food for thought. But this may not go over as well as you hope. I know being an animal lover I assume that everyone wants to touch and feel and be around animals. I do however have some friends that wouldn't even THINK about getting close enough to smell an animal. They too are animal lovers but from afar.

I don't want to make you feel like I'm squashing your idea, I'm not. I'd visit & have some pics taken....well, maybe. I do live on a farm.
Anyways. I was just throwing this out there as something to ponder. Maybe even research to see if it has been tried before and what the results were. You may even be able to improve on a failed plan. Good Luck! It sounds really neat. :D

also something to think about - where would you want to set up shop? I think that a target market of "tourist trap areas" such as Gatlinburg, Savannah, Memphis/Nashville (etc, etc.) would be more profitable than in your own backyard :)
