Show horse insurance

Hey all,

I'm going to begin training my filly for showing in hand for halter and would like to know if anyone knows anything about protecting their equine investment via insurance? If so, what should I be looking for, what will they need from me, is it worth it? Does anyone have any recommendations as to what company to go with?

Markel! Great and easy to work with. Any company should have an initial form you fill out with info (horse age/use/medical history/values/etc) and will quote you based off that. Is it worth it is a personal question.

There's different levels of coverage and it's all based on several variables so you should talk to a rep for costs and info that you'd have to provide.

A dear friend of mine's made had a bad comic and cast herself. Needed surgery, a 2 week hospital stay and IV antibiotics (she really banged herself up). Total bill? $14,000. That's right - fourTEEN THOUSAND. She paid less than a thousand out of pocket for various things and insurance got the rest.
