I think they are trying to give me a heart attack. One is going through an abcess right now (it has decided to go up towards his band ) and my mare wacked her face on a tree that was on the fence line. Lucky for her she just managed to skin her hair off and not puncture it deep or anything. But, dang....this is within two days. Gotta love my horses though. Even if they do cost me an arm and a leg and a few years off my life...lol.
Anybody else have any unpleasant surprises with their horses???
Here is Juliet sporting her skinned face before we cleaned it up. Man she got close to her eye though. And yes...I know her feet are long. Farrier appointment is already made for Friday.
I am thinking I should..lol. A little lower and she would have poked an eye out. Also, the marks on her lower face are scars from before she came to me. Good thing I love her no matter the scars....she seems to be wanting to collect them. It just flusters me that there is nothing in that pasture for her to get hurt on. No rocks or such either. BUT, oh boy she hurts her self on a tree on the fence line. My luck.
I guess I am just thankful that it wasn't as bad as it could have been.
Nothing major here recently, but we have an old saying...."you can go 10 years without needing the vet and then have 2 emergencies in a week".... so very little surprises us. There are always those scrapes and cuts that you can never figure out what they got into, though, just to keep horse life interesting.....
