Angry SO CLOSE! And now so far...

Argh!! We had a smallish snowfall here EIGHT weeks ago and even though it only put 4 or 5 inches on the ground, the blasted ring has been hidden under a thick crust of ice ever since. Or, at least, it was until Tuesday...when we had maybe a 6' x 6' area still covered with a thin layer. A small enough bit to consider shoveling off so we can freaking RIDE. The paddocks were ice-free, the round pen was in great shape, and we'd been having April for a couple of months, and I was ALL psyched to be riding my boy Huey this week. I haven't ridden him since December 8, and he's gotten very cranky at being out of work! We did some training with him in the round pen on Wednesday morning and it turned my shirty, attitudinal, tant want to be haltered tant want to be groomed tant want to behave mouthy beast into a real Pocket Pony.

And then, right as we finished with him, it started to snow. And it didn't stop for 36 hours. And now the ring is buried under another 8" of crusty, icy snow. And the paddocks are icy, and the round pen is a churned up slick hard rutted mess. And now Huey's going to get cranky again, and I WANT TO RIDE. I am tired of riding the lesson horse! I want to ride my big bad beautiful boy! I want to canter, and leg yield, and go on the trail, and learn to send him over small jumps. I want to ride!!!

    WAAAAAANHH.

    I know how you feel!

Not as bad as you but me and Curly have our first show coming up on monday (Hopefully) and I havent been able to ride her in about 3 weeks because of rain and mud/slipperiness.
Now we are flooded into our house, totally surrounded by 1 meter deep water and over the road so we can't leave the house to go see her :( Im hating this so much I miss my baby girl and riding her!

Welcome to my world! Under 2 ft of snow & ice, in fact having a nice snowstorm right now. Nothing we can do about the weather, 'cept complain. I haven't ridden since January, too cold & too much snow & too icy. Don't worry, soon enough we will be out there again.

YOWCH! Floods are the WORST. At least I can go out and watch my crabby bored horse behave badly. I hope your house is OK and the rest. Good luck on the show if you can make it!

I hope I can go but its looking uncertain :( would have been my first ever show and Curly's to!
The house is just dry :/

A couple of photos, usually you can't see any water at all, all this water arrived in a few hours. This was on saturday and the water got higher on sunday and was on the concrete around the house but it has gone down about 1cm since until this morning when a farmer knocked a chanel in to save his property and now we will be getting some more water :(

Well, at least you don't have to water the garden! Thanks for posting those, now I feel fortunate just to have a few feet of snow.
