    So it's Begun :)

I just called a local farm that specializes in arabians and asked them if there was any way that I could volunteer there. At first she (the BO) seemed a little bit confused and mentioned that someone already does all the cleaning and stuff but I was a little reluctant to back down and she picked up on it before I just said "ok" and ended the conversation. She asked if I wanted to be around horses and I let her know that I'm very eager to find somewhere to allow me to be around them and gain more experience. So after she asked for a little bit more information about myself, she let me know that her farm is open to me to come by on the weekends and do a few things here and there. :) I'm so happy for that. FINALLY I can gain some hands-on knowledge of horses. Yes I know they are arabians and I must be careful around the hot ones. Personally I think arabians are one of the most elegant breeds to look at. To handle? Not sure. We'll see how it goes - but I'm so stoked you guys. She was very polite and even let me know of the other local stables around the area that I can go to. I'm confident that this experience will help me achieve my goals.

I believe she mentioned something about riding them after some time :) So I hope that in the future that will become a reality!

That is very exciting! Don't be surprised the old "arabians are hot heads" addage turns out to be not quite true! Some are very hot but many are really quiet. I was shocked to find out how many arabs are used for therapeautic riding programs. It's an amazing breed. You'll really enjoy them!

So true, they get a bad rap sometimes. My pony was such a little firecracker until he turned 5. On his 5 birthday it was like someone turned a switch and he was quiet. He's now 12 still quiet as can be and the most amazing fancy hunter pony. :) I wuv him

Are arabians good for cross country/eventing? I hear that their endurance boosts up their eventing ability.

Farmpony - I am very excited :) and I'm glad that the Arabians bad rap is just a matter of fact or myth.. I've never seen one in person! >.< so psyched

That is so exciting, when I was in high school I had a set up similar to yours, except I was working with all different breeds!. Have fun and good luck!

It must have been nice to work with different breeds :) its difficult to find numerous breeds here in miami. We mostly have Paso Finos around. I could probably volunteer at a race track or a rescue or something but I haven't found any close by. I'm excited regardless though! :) Horses are horses and as long as I can be around them I will be happy!
