A friend of mine asked me if we would go out on the trails with her and her gelding (we have a very large hilly area on the back of property where we agist, that has cattle/kangaroos/sheep with trails all over it). Took my 2yo, Aspen, out with her today, both just walking our horses. My friend has a fear of going out there with her gelding, as she has had a nasty fall out there with her gelding, so has not been out there for over a year. The horses were very well behaved at sure, her gelding a bit nervy at the start once he realized we weren't going to his paddock - only had one spook due to some birds flying out of nowhere scaring us all, however the horses calmed down straight away and had a graze, and we had a laugh. Saw some of the cattle, and let the horses graze mutliple times along the way just letting them relax and enjoy a bit of grass whilst they were out there. Going to do it again next weekend, but turn them loose in a section where we can close off, so they can have a bit of fun together and have the cattle over the other side of the area.
Very proud of my girl today, at only 2yo, being a calming leader for her gelding friend (she has only been out there a few times before also). Was a great day.
A few photos, firstly one of my girl Aspen and her gelding friend, and then one of me and my filly.
Gotta love those leavelheaded babies!
