Was reading about this else where and just wondered what your thoughts/opinions were on it.

Would you mind if somebody used a photo of your horse they found on the internet/ took themselves and used it in one of those online games pretending it is their fictional character??

Just got me curious,if it were me , I'd be pretty peeved - but then I wondered if perhaps you should take it as flattery that they thought you had a pretty horse??

also , taking it one step further - has anyone had somebody *steal* a photo of yours and pretended it was something other than what it was?? how did they get caught?? what did you say to them??

I've been reading up on photo copyright / photographs posted into the internet media - it is really very fascinating the ins and outs of it, at what level it is innocent childs play and then at what stage does it become something more serious/ malicious.

just got me thinking and I wondered what the minds of the world thought.

Its very common in the cake world (I'm a cake decorator) to catch someone using photos of your cakes
as their own on their website, many times taking off your watermark, editing photos or putting their own watermark on them. It's VERY irritating!!

It is quite common in the horsey forums for some kid to google pictures of horses and pretend that they own the horses.
It is also rather easy to pick up on as generaly they make mistakes and you have a series of pictures where a star or a sock misteriously disappears and reappears.

Either that or like on one forum I am on I actualy know the horses involved and who owned them! Infact the actual owner and I have had several fun nights in the bar at some big shows! I recognised that they style of writing wasnt right for her either.

I have done a drawing before and the girl I gave it to (my friend) actually rubbed of my signature and wrote her own and changed the drawing. Well I was pretty peeved. I told her you cannot change an artists artwork and she said that cos I am only 15 I am not an artist so it doesn't matter. What nerve. So when she was not looking, I chnaged the drawing back to what it was, rubbeed out HER signature and wrote mine back on it in pen. That REALLY stuffed her up lol.

Back when myspace was a big thing about 2 yrs ago or so, someone had taken Phantom's photos(the ones without me in them of course) off of my myspace and put them on their myspace saying that he was their horse Spooky. (ugh the name!!!) My friend had found the profile and it had Phantom as the main picture so she messaged me and asked why I had 2 profiles. I said I didn't and she replied by saying "Well then someone stole your pictures off your profile and is passing Phantom off as theirs."
I freaked. I asked for the URL to their profile and sure enough there were at LEAST 50 pictures of Phantom on this person's profile and they were the exact ones on my profile (except she didn't take the one's of me on him unless they were from far away.)
I changed my profile picture to my friend's brown horse(with her permission), changed my name on the profile and hid all of Phantom's pictures so I could throw the girl off(had the settings set so only i could see them) and I sent her a comment . Here are the comments(yes I'm weird and still have my myspace haha).

Me:Hey your horse is really pretty!!! what's his name?

Girl:Hey thanks! His name is Spooky and I love him to pieces!!

Me: Awww Haha what breed is he? How old is he? And do you guys ride western or english?

Girl: He's a Hanovarian (he doesn't even look like a Hanovarian be realistic please ~rolls eyes~) And he's about 7 yrs old and we do showjumping. He jumps almost 4 ft! I'm so proud of him!

Me: Aww haha I bet you are but PHANTOM is MY horse and he's 20 YRS OLD and the highest he has ever jumped in his life is 2 ft.

Girl: How could he be your horse?....your horse is brown. His name is Spooky and he's mine. Stop trying to steal my horse!

(I changed my profile picture back to Phantom and took all of his pictures out of being hidden)

Me: Haha your horse!!....Please if you would be so kind as to take MY HORSE off of your profile now!! And "YOU stop trying to STEAL MY horse."

Girl: I'm sorry! I'll take them down I just thought he was so pretty and I've always wanted a horse. But my parents wont let me get one. Please don't report me! :(

The girl took the pictures down and kept begging me to not report her. But I reported her butt anyway. Who's to say she wouldn't do it again to someone else. I checked the URL a week later and it said something like "This profile has been removed" or something along those lines.

~Shakes head~ Some people really have nerve and the worst part is a lot of people who do it don't get caught. I goes on on youtube all the time.

I just thought it was really iteresting - see im really funny about putting photos of my son on the internet just incase they should end up in the wrong hands - not even on facebook! , it just makes me feel kind of off.

to say that you are not an artist at 15 is awful! and with the cakes too - especially if it is your professional image
