Sometimes when it rains it pours

As a really successful season of competing is winding down and heading into Regional and National Finals it has all come to a screeching halt. Whole summer of battling my own health issues as I try to compete made it tough enough. And now the worst has happened.
Zena, my back up penning and main sorting horse was injured Saturday when I was gone. We will never know for sure what happened but she has severe nerve damage to her face and a badly injured neck. Look like she ran full tilt into a plank fence and is lucky she didn't break her neck. As it is she is out for 3-6 months now and the nerve damage may never fully heal. No idea why a calm easy going horse ran herself into a fence that hard.
And last night Fred, the top horse, was suddenly packing a front leg. Bowed tendon. He was fine on Wednesday night when I excercised him. Again no idea what happened but we did have some bad thunderstorms roll through after I rode and yesterday. And he is a bit silly and high strung.
Looks like I will be finishing out the season on borrowed horses as I manage the injuries on my own. I thank my lucky stars that there are so many good people involved in the sport that I do.
What a week...as the rain literally pours down.

Thanks for the kind words everybody. It will take time for the injuries to heal. If they never heal up enough to compete again, they will still have a home with me. I am trying out a horse tomorrow.

Just an update...the injured horses are healing up which is great. And I kind of bought the borrowed horse I was competing on over the past two weeks lol. I just really liked her, quirks and all. No pics of her yet but here are her papers.

She is a bit rusty after hardly seeing cattle for over a year but she has been trying so hard and getting better every time we compete. My father talked me into making the deal on her lol. He is seeing new ranch horse for himself I think.
