Oh man Tiny...Consider yourself lucky! Lol

Yes...I was up at night at the hospital freaking myself out, thinking about what would have happened if Selena had been the one who got kicked, and how I would have managed to get her out of there or if I would have at all. I normally ride with a pistol in the event of total tragedy but...I didn't have it that time. I will never leave it behind again, that's for certain. So many bad ways that could have gone, I am at least thankful it is not worse.

Wow.. knee injurys hurt like heck.. having a needle stuck into the knee joint is no fun at all.
Did they wire your knee cap together or replace it?
    Hope you heal fast

Nope...They just cleaned it and stitched it up, going back in Monday to get more specific instructions and to see if I have to have more surgery.

I am fortunate I can still walk and function relatively normally.

So now you know how badly you are hurt I'm glad to hear you are going to follow medical advice. I hope you heal quickly and with no after affects.

I will NOT take risks...I can't afford to be a limper forever!! I will give up my summer of barrel racing for a lifetime of it.

Though my boyfriend says he's going to get me a cane so I can limp around like Dr. House. I'm pretty excited.

I hope you heal well, and make sure you are fully recovered before you work that knee again!
You really are one tough woman! Take care..

I hate when I get close touches when riding - for example, one guy decided to honk his car when 5 m in front of us - my friends horse almost sat on top of us. If he was a kicker I would probably not be in one piece by now.

Yikes Looks painful. You must have an amazingly high tolerance to pain, I was in tears when I tore a ligament in my finger, and you broke a bone!
Hope you heal quickly so you can get back to the important things in life, and by things im referring to horses

I'd probably have continued riding too, lol. You're definitely not alone in the high pain tolerance/gonna ride anyway group, haha. I probably would've thrown up at that much blood though. Knee, tooth, and ear pain is about the only things that get me woozy, and that much blood and the knee pain..ouch!

Glad you're going to follow doctor orders so you can continue to race for more than just this summer, it's too fun to take one summer instead of 30-40 :p I'll probably be the little old lady running her mares when she's 60, haha.

It does suck that happened, and I'm honesty surprised a kick did that much damage on the inside and a minimal amount on the outside o.o That TB must have hit just the right spot to break a femur and the knee cap!

Good luck on the recovery and both you and Selena being ready for that big race at the end of the season!

You can use that cane to beat on people who aggravate you too!

Or you can dress in a grey cloak and do this all the time

    Hope you feel better
