It's a huge break from the actual competing, and it is just really nice to relax and have fun.
At our fair, everyone generally goes all out on decorating their stall. This year the fair theme is 50 years of crowning moments, and my horse's barn name is Twister. It made me think of the Wizard of Oz, so I would kind of like to decorate it like that. The stalls are around 12 by 12 wooden box stalls and they're just your typical sliding door stalls. I wanted to cut 'bricks' out of the insulation foam board and paint them emerald green and just put those all over to make it look like the Emerald City. I will probably put some long, flowing green curtains on the door and tie them back. Then, I'll attach a box with Red Poppy flowers in it because that's what Dorothy passed out in. I really want the have something for the yellow brick road, but I can't think of anything. Any ideas?
Also, I'm about 90% Irish and blood, and I'm really into the whole genealogy thing. It seems that every time I try to do the costume contests, something happens a day or two before it and I can't do it. (The last time I tried I fell off my horse and broke my hip xD) But this year, I'm kind of excited about this costume idea because I've never seen it done. I wanted to dress my horse up like a leprechaun. I made us both hats, and I'm working on a beard for him, but other than that, I'm out of ideas.
Help me? (:
