Standardbred neck brand and lines? So confused!

I'm not sure where this goes so I'm putting it here. Please move it if there is a more appropriate forum!

I just bought a standardbred mare that I was told is not registered. However, she has a neck brand and it matches this mare: Pathway: Horse Name/Tattoo Search

Same age, same markings, etc. Does this mean she is registered? Or is it a coincidence? For some reason I was under the impression that in order to get a neck brand they -had- to be registered and pass a DNA test?

My trainer thinks that possibly she was registered and the papers were given to another horse (on purpose) so that the sire and dam wasn't linked with her underdeveloped knees? If she -is- registered, is there a way to go about getting her paperwork?

And if this is here, her sire is Park Place Standardbred her grand sire on dam's side is Incredible Finale Standardbred (couldn't find her dam on all breed registry, Fox Valley Spatsie) and her full sister would be Pathway: Horse Name/Tattoo Search born a year later. Does anyone know anything about these lines?

Any help any of you could give me would be awesome! I am SO confused :( lol
