Staying Black?

I have a black Quarter horse gelding and I am planning to show him a lot this year. I do not clip him because his coat is wonderful and i dont want his new coat to be dull. In shedding season his coat comes in black but after a week or so he beaches out! He seems to only bleach out on his barrel. Even in the winter he is black everywhere but his barrel and it looks horrible!

i heard paprika helps and i will use that. I am not into the supplements and my vet is not either she talked me out of using black as night since reports said it caused internal problems in some horses and i do not want to take the chance. I want to put a UV ray flysheet on him but i dont want him to sweat or get overheated but that will have to be the only solution since he is on 100% turnout.

any tips that are natural? and when should i start feeding the paprika?
