Hi Lins where in Canada are you. There are ticks in our area but I have yet to see one.

Manitoba. My poor dogs get handfuls of them every single day :( Advantix and tick collars can't even handle the massive amount of them. So gross. I have a huge hatred towards ticks because I had Lyme disease :/

I live in central BC, only ticks I have ever seen have been the winter ticks that hatched up on an older horse, one worming of ivermectin killed them. Very lucky as ticks & Lyme disease are a concern here, it is extremely heavily forested here. The winter ticks attach to a horse in the fall as larvae when the horse is standing in tall grass & hatch up in the spring when it warms up. I found they were mainly on the horse butt area, very easy to remove but still disgusting!

I pulled a few off of our horses tonight when we grained. They are horrible this year, it just didn't get cold enough this winter to kill them off. I feel sorry for our dogs. We de-tick them every other day and treat the yard as well.
