Someone I used to know, who boarded her horse asked me where I boarded my horses...when I said they are at my house, not boarded, she said, "Oh, your just a backyarder", with an obvious look of "oh, your one of THOSE". I said, "Yes, I am a backyarder, so if my horses colic, like your's did, I will most likely be there to get a vet out immediately instead of having to wait a few scary hours until someone noticed my horse in pain out in a field. I am also the one who feeds my horses the right food and correct amounts I want them to have. And I am ALSO the one that they know the best because I clean their stalls, turn them out, excersise them, feed and groom them. So, I prefer NOT to board!"
I have NOTHING against boarding, mind you...but I wanted her to know that she is not better than me because I was "just a backyarder".
