Someone I used to know, who boarded her horse asked me where I boarded my horses...when I said they are at my house, not boarded, she said, "Oh, your just a backyarder", with an obvious look of "oh, your one of THOSE". I said, "Yes, I am a backyarder, so if my horses colic, like your's did, I will most likely be there to get a vet out immediately instead of having to wait a few scary hours until someone noticed my horse in pain out in a field. I am also the one who feeds my horses the right food and correct amounts I want them to have. And I am ALSO the one that they know the best because I clean their stalls, turn them out, excersise them, feed and groom them. So, I prefer NOT to board!"
I have NOTHING against boarding, mind you...but I wanted her to know that she is not better than me because I was "just a backyarder".

I've never spilled a bucket of water on myself like that, but I have stepped in a water barrel when trying to empty it before...in the middle of winter. We used 50 gallon plastic water barrels cut in half and reinforced for our water barrels and there were a couple that needed dumping one day (when it was starting to snow, of all things!). I was trying to tip one by standing on the edge and rocking it, then jumping off (back onto the bars of the mare motel stall) as it fell. Well, it started to tip, so I tried to jump back to the bars, but missed and the barrel didn't make it all the way over...so I ended up landing right in the middle of the freezing water up to my knee. I will say that my boots (Ariat Terrain H2Os) kept my feet nice and dry!

As for the baby talk thing...I guess I don't do it because my dog hates it (he will literally try to attack your face if you baby talk to him), so I just don't do it to any animals. I do, however, call Aires all sorts of names. Lol
