So anyway, me and my friend were thinking about trying to earn some extra money this summer to satisfy our tack cravings, , and were thinking of starting a tack room / tack cleaning service.
So, here are my questions:
1- Would you pay to have your tack room and/or tack cleaned?
2- How much would you pay for either service?
We were thinking about $40 for us to clean a tackroom and one leather saddle and bridle. We might change price depending on situation, I.e. If the person has synthetic tack, maybe we'd charge less, if they had more tack or a giant tackroom, more. I will make some example flyers later and put them on here to see what people think, thanks!
Probably not my tack room. I just spent two days cleaning everything in my tackroom, and I don't think anyone other than me could have done it.
But I would definitely pay $40-50 to clean my western saddle, and $30-35 for my english, and $10 for my bridles.
Not all the time but, I hate cleaning saddles, I would have them cleaned by a "professional" every 6 months or so.
Ok, I'm gonna sound pretty naive saying this, but do you think the the money is worth the same here in ca? I just was curious since I'm not sure how many people would pay that much to have their saddle's cleaned around here, but thanks for the imput regardless!
You could always put some flyers/notices up in barns in your area and see what sort of response you get? If you get nothing then you know either the price is too high or the market isn't there.
CA is one of the most expensive states there is.
You would have to supply all the cleaning and conditioning supplies, the quality stuff, and do a good job cleaning. To clean a good western saddle with silver lacing and conchos is going to take you around an hour and a half. I have double skirting and the flower pattern tooling and silver lacing on the pommel, the cantel and the stirrups. You could go cheaper on a simpler saddle. For that price I would expect you to clean and condition both sides of all the skirting.
My price might be a little high, but I hate, hate, hate cleaning my western saddle.
Now my harness I could clean everyday and twice on Sunday.
You could also put on the poster to contact you for prices/ a quote? But then people will want a ball park on what they are looking at paying.
