The tallest horse you've seen

My niece brought in a Guinness Book Of World Records the other night and I flipped through it. It was the 2008 version and so Radar was listed as the tallest horse in the world (don't know if he still holds the record or not). This got me thinking...

What is the tallest horse you have been around?

Mine would be a thoroughbred named Lurch. He was abandoned at a facility and had all sorts of health problems, including a large ball on his elbow that he was due for surgery for before he died. Lurch measured 18.1 at the withers and I do believe that they were trying to get him into Guinness as tallest TB. I'm unsure of whether he had a lip tattoo but I think his lack of papers might have kept him from the title.

Here is Lurch (RIP) about a year before he passed. He was 18.1 Hands. The girl ontop of him is somewhere around 5'10'', I believe. He was ridden in light dressage to keep any kind of muscle on the poor guy.

The tallest horse that I've ever seen in real life was a 17 hand QH/Arab? I was only in 7th or 8th grade & he belonged to a friends sister.

The tallest I actually worked with was an 18.2 TB.
He was really slow to mature and was kept at the H&J breeding farm where I was working and riding at.
Ben was his name and at 4 or 5 hadn't been ridden yet as things were still fairly loose.
I took care of him and lead him to the various pastures everyday.
Now I'm only 5'1" and had to always stand on something just to groom him, and sometimes he would be really full of piss and vinegar on the way out to pasture, which always kept things very lively.
I don't know if he made it into the book, but I think he was the tallest TB at the time I knew him.

I've been around a few drafts who were taller, but I didn't actually do much with them.

I tried an 18.2hh WB to buy a number of years ago; he had slight hind end lameness which I'm guessing was caused by rapid growth, as he was still young ish.
Tallest horse I've owned was 17.1hh; Ronan is just a smidgen under 17hh.

Tallest one I've worked with was a big black guy called Cruiser, 18.2 hh, and a complete sweetheart, so gentle. He was boarded at a place where I took lessons, and it was a privilege to be allowed to catch him up, or turn him out, being a kid it made him seem like a mountain.

Oh, bejezuz...

I made sure to ask about Lurch's height before I posted this thread and now someone is telling me he was 19.1 He's gone now so theres no way to really know for sure. But really, he was a huge beast. I was about 5'2'' at the time and my head didn't even reach his Point of the Hip.

I wish I could see Radar! That guy would certainly be a sight! Our drafts around these parts are a bit on the medium size. I've yet to see a draft that was gigantic enough for me to take a step back and oogle. I need to start looking!
