Probably an 18 hand horse who went to the same shows sometimes, though I'm not certain. I actually rode a 17 hand thoroughbred for a year, and I'm pretty sure this horse was taller.

I have seen Radar up close and personal, too. He still holds the World record for the tallest horse. The tallest horse I have ridden was a 17 hand Saddlebred.

I've met a 19HH (I think) Irish Draught cross. It was at a local team penning event, and it was quite humorous seeing as he didn't know what to do about the little beasts that were running around and under him. I have a photo of him actually, he was absolutely beautiful. A few hands shorter and I would have stolen him.

The tallest I've been on was an 17.3hh tb cross gelding named Bullwinkle that belonged to one of my coaches when I was a teen. He felt enormous especially after just dismounting from my 14.3 reining horse lol! Jumped him and it was as if he was a little kid singing along na na na na boo boo, I don't have to work at this and you do...he was a big, fun goof.

Tallest I've been near was an ENORMOUS warmblood called Fleeting. He was huge. I commented that he had to be at least 18hh and one of the girls working for his owner said he was 18.2 or 18.3... I couldn't reach to get the saddle on him the day I tacked him up! Riser was all wonky, they ride all their horses with some form of riser. Fleeting wore a flat one.

I am 5'2-ish and one of the girls working there came up to my armpit... I commented once to one of the other girls that I would LOVE to see Emma ride him XD she would look like a pimple on a pumpkin!

Tallest horse I've ridden was a 16.3hh TB mare who I ride now and then for her owner. My girl is a big girl, she'll be 24 months old in 2 days and her rump is already 16hh+, she's around 15.3 at the wither... and she has a LOT of growing to do.
