I just wanted to thank everyone who encouraged me about my new horse, Reb, after a seemingly rough start. Today I went out with my sister and her husband, and Reb was as docile as always so we decided to see how he would do if my sister's husband just sat on him bareback while I held onto him.
In the end? All three of us, including my sister who is a timid rider, were taking turns riding Reb bareback in his halter using the lead rope for reins and letting him walk and gait with us. Reb was FANTASTIC. He stopped, he listened to body and leg cues, he was amazing for a little fella who hadn't been ridden for a week and didn't have a warm-up beforehand.
I mean, really. THIS is the horse I knew my trusted seller friend would send me, not the "bad horse" my friend deemed him after a horrible start that was *my* fault, not his.
Thank you all for your encouragement and thoughts!! I've learned several great lessons and believe Reb is going to be sticking around!
Sincerely,
Jenny
