THANK YOU to all who helped me! I found him!

For those of you who read my other thread about Storm and offered suggestions, THANK YOU!

I went today and looked at several horses from rescues to leases to flat out purchases. I ended up finding the PERFECT horse!

His name is Stiffler (don't ask... I'm too ashamed to tell HAHA) and he is a 6yr old bay QH gelding. He's a bit on the chubby side from not being ridden a lot recently but he was a dream to ride! Had a very nice easy walk and a GORGEOUS trot! He spooked once at a piece of paper on the arena floor (of all things!) but he didn't jump away from it. He simply stopped. That's one thing I LOVE about him. If he's being stubborn or is confused, he just stops. He never once offered to buck even when he was testing how much I'd let him get away with.

The odd thing with him was he was the same size as Storm but I didn't feel like he was. I felt like he was waaay shorter... It was really odd but I felt SOOO safe on him! I am so incredibly happy right now :) He is a truly GREAT horse and is perfect for me!

Someone posted on another thread when you are looking for the perfect horse for you, when safety is your primary concern, looks and breed go out the window. THAT IS SO TRUE! I really thought I wanted a flashy horse or one that people would just go "wow" at but I found with those horses came the attitudes. With Stiffler I know people will go "wow" because of how gentle and well mannered he is! Well... except for one area LMBO!!

Anyways, I just wanted to post a HUGE thank you to everyone who responded to my questions! I really look forward to getting to know everyone as I spend more time here!

I am so glad you found a decent horse. A quote that will forever remain in my mind I think is....You cain't ride purty (for those of you that need a translation for the southern accent, it is You can't ride pretty). Is this a lease or outright purchase? Just curious.

It was an outright purchase. I got him for $500 as the lady had lost her job and was on disability and couldn't afford having 2 horses.

Oh and the one thing I forgot to mention... Someone on my other thread told me to find someone knowledgeable with horses and talk with them and have them help me, etc. I had a lady in mind that I had met about 8-10 years ago that had been in competitive dressage and was very VERY knowledgeable. Of all the irony, Stiffler is boarded at her stable! She was there and watched me with him and I asked her when I was done riding if she thought I was a good fit for him and she said absolutely so that helped seal my decision on him! She is giving me a free month to keep him there until I can get fencing up so I will be under her watch for a few weeks to come.

I just got back from riding him again and he did great! I did have a minor *ahem* mishap but he took it TOTALLY in stride! Let's just say I learned not to wear Victoria Secret Bras to the stable LOL!!! I wasn't paying close attention and when I went to dismount, I got mine stuck on the saddle horn!!! Thankfully the BO was standing there as she had to undo the saddle because my toes were barely touching the ground and my shirt and bra were both practically to my neck LMBO! Stiffler just looked at me like "WHAT are you DOING?!?" If a horse can tolerate me hanging off the saddle horn by my bra then he's the horse for me!!! HAHAHA

I am sorry, I couldn't help it. I just ended up with a visual and knowing that I have done the same thing just made it funnier. Sounds like he is a pretty mellow guy.

He is thankfully! Could you imagine what would have happened if he would have decided to bolt around the arena with me at that moment?!?! He just patiently sat there and stared at me like I was CRAZY! But I also had my daughter laughing hysterically, my mom taking pictures (which thankfully did NOT turn out!!) and the BO laughing hysterically while undoing the cinch. Talk about EMBARRASSING! LOL

He sounds like a great horse. I do have to admit that I probably would have been laughing also, even picturing it I am laughing.
Well, at least you can say he is not bra shy.................

Sounds like a great horse! I believe if it's meant to work out, it'll work out, and Stiffler's living proof!

Haha I couldn't help it, I laffed at the bra story. LOL
