I hope I'm not biting the bullet by jumping for joy right now before they are even off the property but...
Its been 10 months since I've taken in those three rescue hackneys- which was originally supposed to be for just a couple weeks to a month... and FINALLY today I got word that their owner has a place to rent and that they can take them now!
Its been a long hard journey with them- Sarah needing a little tlc/groceries, losing her foal a month early in a freak snow storm, and then losing her to a stroke the night before my wedding- Polly with her overly proud nature and coming from not wanting me within 10 ft of her to now I can approach her and lead her with out a halter, and then theres Slick, a young hansom horse, who suffers from an incurable debilitating ailment and all the times I've saved his life by helping him and me earning his trust so he could overcome his skittishness. Its been a long, hard, difficult road but they'll be going home, to a family that loves them and has been doing their best so they could to keep them, and to a lush 15 acre pasture just begging to be chawwed on!
The owners are so happy that they will be reunited with all their babies. They have a couple other hackneys being boarded elsewhere also that will be joining Polly and Slick at their new home. Couldnt be happier for them- and it will be nice to finally have use for all my pastures for my herd again!
